If you have recently had a terrible hair cut, or if you are enthusiastic about growing beautiful, long hair for a special occasion then you must be eager to find out quick and easy ways to grow your hair.

The most important factor that encourages faster hair growth is the basic genetic setup which is influenced by hereditary factors. For instance, generally, it is believed that hair grow at a rate of 5-6 inches in a year.

However, there are several individuals who have been favored with a genetic predisposition that makes their strands of hair grow to about 11-12 inches in a year.

Given below are some other encouraging factors that influence hair growth.

growing long hair

Season: Your hair grows slightly faster during the summer season. This increase in rate of hair growth is induced by hormones as there certain hormones are specifically released during warm summer months.

Moreover, there is more efficient circulation of blood in the body during summer season when the body works faster. Nonetheless, this attributes to a mere 0.05 inch increase in the average hair growth rate. Thus, your tresses grow about 10% faster during sunny summer season rather than chilly winter season.

Scalp massage: Proper hair care regime is highly beneficial in making hair grow faster and longer. Scalp stimulation through regular scalp massages and hot oil treatments help a great deal in achieving quick hair growth.

Check out this video explaining top ten factors that affect healthy hair growth.

Stimulate the hair follicles by gently massaging the scalp in circular motion with your fingers. You can follow this simple procedure daily, especially before going to sleep.

Further, application of warm oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, etc. help your hair grow fast. At least once in a week, you can use hair masks to boost hair growth.

Vitamins: Diet plays a significant role in stimulating hair health and growth. Therefore, taking more B vitamins and amino acids through diet and supplements facilitates faster hair growth naturally.

Some such hair vitamins are vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, zinc, protein etc. Nowadays, people are also taking biotin pills and prenatal vitamin supplements to help their hair grow at a better rate.

Rest and sleep: This may sound unusual but yes, good sleep and rest help in growing hair faster. The body repairs and regenerates cells during sleep.

Moreover, growth hormones are secreted during this restorative process. Hence, erratic sleep patterns and sleep deprivation contribute in causing hair loss.

Besides, doing yoga, meditation and adopting other relaxation techniques help reduce stress and hence avoid a number of hair troubles, especially hair fall and hair loss.

Hair health and condition: Though hair shaft is made up of dead cells, its root is very much alive and is affected by the way to treat your hair.

When tying up your hair, make comfortable and a little bit loose ponytails, buns or braids instead of tight and suffocating hairstyles. In addition, stay away from curling rods, and other heat treatments that cause more harm than good.

Besides, it is essential to incorporate healthy habits like drinking sufficient water, having nutritious foods, abstaining from cigarette smoking and alcoholism, removing split ends periodically, and combing your hair before washing them and so on. However, rate of hair growth tends to decrease as you age.

If you believe that religiously washing your hair everyday encourages healthy hair growth then think again and direct your efforts at more effective ways by understanding your hair type rather than following others blindly.

okay, i have some answers, people!
my hair was about a half inch below my shoulders mid-november, and its halfway down my back mid-april. i stopped using heat on my hair completely (as much as i miss having straightened hair, i get a lot of compliments on my naturally curly/wavy hair). i braid my hair nightly, and dont use any products on it but shampoo and conditioner (mane & tail). i’ve basically left it alone and its grown much more than it would have had i used products. also, i eat somewhat healthy and exercise OCCASIONALLY, and for about a month i took biotin. i kept forgettin to take them but they did make my hair skin and nails look nice. so there you go. leave your hair alone and be patient and it will grow. just wash it every other day, use a minimal amount of products and NO heat, braid it, and stay healthy and it will grow. :)

Over washing your hair is not good. Neither is Flat ironing. over brushing your hair is not that good for your hair either. It makes you get bald patches sometimes.

When i was younger i had very curly hair that became unmanagable and by the time i was 14 my mom took me to gwt a perm. When i was younger my hair was alot thicker and past my shoulders and now its mor mangable but its thinner and the length isnt as it use to be. Should I leave it alone and let it go its own way?
