    i am growing my hair, its so short and i despratley want it to grow i get my hair trimmed ever 6-8 weeks anyway but my hair doesnt seem to grown it seems to get shorter, i have started to just were my hair up all the time and not get it cut or put any heat on it, is this the right thing to do?? and do you have an more tips??

    • sophia says:

      @carys smith: you could try protein treatment if u have damaged hair

    • sophia says:

      @carys smith: ya its better to wear loose hairstyles n avoid heat

    • sally says:

      @carys smith: eat well, take vitamins, some people use. horse shampoo. You don’t need a trim often if your hair is in good shape because every month you grow about half an inch, so getting a trim is putting you one month behind. All it takes is time

    • nicole says:

      @carys smith: Cut your hair every 10-12 weeks. Tying your hair up with a ponytail increases damage because it breaks your hair, maybe use a clip. Maybe speak to a relative if you can, hair growth also has a lot to do with genes. Good luck with growing your hair =)

      • UmmAbdulkhaaliq says:

        @nicole:

        I really believe wearing my hair in a ponytail to bed while my hair was wet caused my hair to breakoff really bad. NO more!!!!

    • Ke says:

      If you continue to put your hair up, your breaking it if that makes since because your pulling your hair! I recommended wearing it down and up regularly! And try not to comb or brush your hair so much!!
      @carys smith:

      • Lexii says:

        @Ke:
        If you wear it up and loose this is good….. if you wear it down your hair is brushing against things which can cause shedding but both ways have thier good and bad factors.

    • irma vargas says:

      yeah but when you put a ponytail make sure its really tiet

    • chelsey says:

      I actually read somewhere not to wear your hair up or tight if your trying to grow it, it says to leave it loose because it restricts the circulation: )

    • D.C.H.G. says:

      @carys smith:

      Getting a trim 6-8 weeks ma be recommended but only do if your hair REALLY needs it and trust me it’s growing hair doesn’t just stop. But yes your doing the right and thing and also just remember your ends are the oldest part of the hair so protective hairstyles that keep ends from being rubbed off for ex. your head in the car and on furniture it helps A LOT.

    • LOL... says:

      @carys smith:

      I think the reason that you are having such difficulty with hair growth is simply this. Your grammar and spelling are deplorable. Did you realise that for each time you fail to capitalize, your hair grows shorter? Worse even is that for every misspelled word some of your hair actually falls out. I’m sorry but from the looks of it you will be bald, in about an hour.

      • Bear says:

        It would seem that you, yourself, would unfortunately suffer from hair loss if your theory held comprehensive truth. Whether you were trolling for personal amusement, or attempting to make a valid point about the grammatical errors of others whilst offending them in what you thought was a cleverly thought out statement, you’ve succeeded in becoming hypocritical. I also found your humor to be in poor taste.
        … For future reference, it’s spelled “realize”.

    • Helper says:

      @carys smith: Don’t put your hair up! To grow it longer, just keep it down. When it’s up it closes the time for it to grow.

      • veronica says:

        @Helper:

        thats a very interesting comment – Ive never heard that before….

        ‘leave the hair down, because it closes the time for it to grow??

        mmm

        i might research that… most interesting…

    • brodstar11 says:

      i am putting honey and egg youlk together and my parents thinks its disgusting lol 8)

    • Ally says:

      @carys smith: Well, change your diet. Do tons of exercise. Join ballet, or go to a gym. I recommend NOT to use horse shampoo. Totally made my hair dry as can be. I had to cut it so short, I cried for days because I always had to put my hair up and I looked the same every single day. Try searching online to hair growing shampoos. Try not straightening your hair. Less heat towards your head means less split ends = no hair cuts every 2 months. Hope this helps! Need anymore tip, ask! :)

    • cb says:

      @carys thsmith: it does work expecially if you take vitamins expecially formulated for your hair

    • Kira says:

      @carys smith:
      Putting your hair up breaks ends! It is better to leave it down

    • Sandy says:

      My hair was up to my cheeks and now its up to my waist….. i started using this shampoo of CHILE and it really works maybe you should try it out its only about $8 the shampoo and $8 the conditioner and also braid your hair every night. IT WORKS

    • TB says:

      @carys smith: if you are trimming you hair and its still short then your probably cutting it instead. There is a difference in between cutting and trimming. When you cut your hair yuour actually CUTTING your hair. When you trim your hair, your just taking off the dead ends. And dont wear it up all the time. That strips your hair too. Its okay to wear it up sometimes, but not all the time. And switch up your hairatyle every now and then. That helps too. :)

    • Maria Bailey says:

      @carys smith:

      wair you hair up in ponytails can cause slight damage, i used to wear my hair in pony tails all the time but now i dont wear it in ponytails and my hair seems to have less damage and stopped getteing shorter. hope that helps

    • Charity says:

      Maybe its getting shorter because you keep CUTTING IT!! @carys smith:

    • Jade Ozzy says:

      hey. when you put your har up it doesnt grow faster, it even makes it grow slower/less. you are doing the right thing by not putting heat on it and getting it trimmed. i have been using a hair repair product by pantine and it has made my hair grow faster, and i have thick curly hair :P
      @carys smith:

    • Emily Jean says:

      @carys smith:
      Just no heat. and dont put it up when its wet

    • Kristen says:

      Don’t put your hair up so often it halts the blood circulation to your head braid it instead if it is long enough, if it isn’t long enough then put it in a low pony tail in the mean time never a high pony tail@carys smith:

    • claire says:

      @carys smith: i did this when my hair was short… stopped getting it cut never straightened it.. i did lots of protein treatements to give it strength.. it took a little over a year to get from a little above shoulder length to about 4 inches below the shoulder

    • Brenda says:

      @carys smith: Ok so I’m 13 and had my hair to my waist but it was to much to manage and biggest mistake I cut it and I want it to grow cuze it’s a little past my shoulders and wantit to grow badly any suggestions????and how to you do rosermy water or where to buy it someone pleze help me to grow my hair any suggestions on wat to do??????????????

      • Imogen says:

        @Brenda: People say to tie your hair up.Be carefull if you do because if you pull your hair to tight you can atchully break your hair.My advise is just to keep trying all the tips their worth it!

    • chloe gonzalez says:

      @carys smith: the thing you should do is let your hair down almost all the time and you should see your hair grow a little faster it will help

    • alexandria says:

      @carys smith: its good to not put any heat on it, but i wouldnt wear it up to often either.

    • anonymous7 says:

      @carys smith: dont wear your hair up because thats what breaks it the most. if u wear hairties or rubber bands, it tightens your hair and it breaks it.

    • Eve says:

      @carys smith: If your hair is getting shorter, DO NOT CUT IT. Trimming is usually meant for longer hair lenghts . If your hair is that short it should’nt need any trimming for the oils should reach the tip . If they don’t I suggest buying treatments and leaving them overnight (I recommend making the treatment yourself or buying organic ones, chemical ones are known to strip luster and oils from hair. And as for pick your hair up, Your doing it right. Having your hair picked up stimulates growth as well as massaging your scalp when washing your hair . Heat will damage your hair completley (trust me I’ve gone through all of this) so stay away from it and don’t forget to brush your hair everynight

    • casey says:

      do u do it when u shower or do itin like a sink :)

    • Hanna says:

      Can you massage baby oil on your scalp?

    • Nytax3 says:

      @carys smith:
      Putting yout hair in a ponytail actually breaks hair so putting it up, isnt the best idea :)

    • Gabs says:

      Yes, don’t use any heating ! And i tend to use a lottt of conditioner, and i think it helps to moisturise my hair and make it to grow faster. Also i prefer not to use salon types of shampoo and conditioner,, we use these type of products to wash our hair all the time so we need to be certain that they aren’t causing any damage towards our scalp and hair. Have you heard of the brand organic? they are the long rectangular shaped tubes. I find that these hair products are good for all hair types but especially good for sensitive heads or scalps or hair, and i’m quite sensitive. Another one of my favourites is Herbal Essence. These ones smell amasingg ! i recommend them all the way.
      Good luck :)

    • DuckieMomo says:

      Just don’t cut it Lol..

    • Wendy says:

      @Sadie: I have hair down to my booty and my daughter’s is justa bit longer than mine……here is what we do….. 1-Keep hair up in a bun or braid (nothing to tightly twisted..you do not want to break any hair) 2- do not wash every day. wash only the scalp area not the hanging length (when you rinse the shampoo will go through the bottom half and therefore lightly wash it) condition the bottom half well. 3- I mix a small amount of coconut and jojoba oil in my hands and apply to the ends and work up hair. it may seem to be oily at first but it absorbs. it does not take much(dime size…remember I have hip length hair) brush hair to distribute oils thoroughly. 4- I DO NOT USE CURLING IRONS OR STRAIGHTENERS AND I NEVER TEASE(BRUSH BACKWARDS) MY HAIR!! best of luck- Wendy

    • alexus says:

      @Sadie: Buy/take Biotin pills. Bition is a vitamin used to help your hair anddd nails grow… different bottles/kinds say how much is in there. it;s measured by micro grams. the bottle should say something like 2500 mcgs or 1300 mcgs, ect.

    • LOL... says:

      Wow. I bet you actually talk that way. I’m am frightened to a degree I thought impossible.

      @Sadie:

      • Hahaha says:

        BTW You spelled realize wrong so does that mean you’re going bald as well for everytime in your life you mispell that one word?@LOL…:

      • Ethan says:

        And you have the nerve to talk about Carys’ grammar; Note: I’m am frightened= INCORRECT; Maybe you should work on your own grammar before criticizing other people about their grammar.. @LOL…:

    • MALINI D/O BALRAS says:

      my hair is very thin an short. i prefer long and thick hair. what can i do for it? in simple way home made.

    • deadbabiesareokay says:

      @Sadie: chant apaché-hair-ee-nay-chok over the course of 4 years every night without cutting your hair and it should grow really well:-)

    • emma says:

      well if you tie your hair up it helps like mad my hair used to be at my shoulders and now that i have my hair up for 2 weeks my hair is at my stomach

    • Selin says:

      @Sadie:
      when i was 10, i had hair that long, i loved it, but then i cut it to donate, but long hair is not like what you think, your hand can actually ache sometimes from brushing it, and it gets really hot in summer, plus, not kidding, but you could also choke in it, though its rare, i remember using my hair as a scarf in winter >.< weird, i know, but still, also, if you have some-what curly or even wavy hair, it will straighten out a bit, from expierience, when i had long hiar, itt was straight, when i cut it it curled up, enough to say it IS curly, so if you like curley hair, your hair shouldn't be extremely long, honestly, it took me appearenty 10 years to grow it like that, but that is just when i was younge, appearently now, you could get it there in probbably definately less than 2 years, the shortest time might be ( depending where your hair is up to know) if its somewhere around the shoulders, if it grows the best it can ( which is 2 in. a month) it could grow that long in maybe less than a year, maybe more, who knows…hope this helped!

  5. marissa says:

    thanks this helped alot.i have medium lengthed hair but when i was little i had my hair down to my butt. i want it that long again. ps. i did lox of love. but before i did that, a whole pack of gum was in my mouth and i fell asleep and i got it stuck in my hair. it sucked.

    • tesaaesthetic says:

      @marissa: if you get gum in your hair put peanut butter on it and comb it out

    • Sammyboo says:

      Well when I was younger, I had very long hair also. My parents washed my hair with john sons baby shampoo. I believed it was the one that was tinted yellow. They used it til I was 5 I started using it again and it helps with the hair growth. I also use the olive oil treatment sitting in the sun and it increases softness and shine. My hair is growing pretty fast. href=”#comment-1842″>marissa:

  6. Girlygirl2 says:

    Everyone that I know who has long hair uses baby oil and washes hair in rosemary water………..i tried that and now my hair is almost to my butt.:)

  7. Emily says:

    Wow I was doing it all wrong. Im 13 and have short, thick, wavy/curly hair. I really loved it when it was long so it wasn’t so.. Poofy. I want to grow it back long so I can have it the way I did when I was little. I cut it in 3rd grade to my chin, and 5 years later it is just above shoulder length. I don’t want it down to

    • Heather says:

      Hey emily my name is heather and the same exactthings happened to me and my hair sucks and i wwant my hair to come back to the longer langth so what i did is copied what it said like some good things to eat and I am hoping that it is going to work! :) Maybe you should try too! when you get this can you respond? • Gretta says:

      @Emily:

  8. gina says:

    @nicole:that’s true, hair growth does depend a lot on genes.

  9. kizaaaaa says:

    i think that baby oil is soaked up by the scalp and stimulates the roots. i used it and my hair usually grows really slowly, but now it is going quick. it grew 4 inches in 4 months. Thats just with baby oil and rosemary water

  10. Rachie says:

    I’ve never tried anything for making your hair longer. But I’m going to try this! I need to get my hair longer again. a few years ago my hair was to my knees and I cut it all off to my shoulders and it doesn’t seem to grow! I’m really going to try this I hope it works!!!(:

  11. hudo says:

    hi this is advice from me follow doctor 2 solve ur hair prob ireally did it he gave me an organices products and now my hair is feeling so good and growing fast about 3 inches im feeling so happy and satisfay

  12. claudia says:

    So i got a bad haircut my front hair is lyke mushroom cut n my back is long now i despretly eant it to grow and FAST!!!! WHAT CAN I DO N WHERE CAN I GET ROSEMARY WATER;????

    • Morgan says:

      You can get rosemary sprigs. Put them in a sauce pan.
      Then fill with rain water. Not too much, just enough to cover the sprigs. Then simmer. The time required is personal; you choose the point at which you think the mixture is adequately scented. Naturally, do not let the water evaporate or you will not have anything left to rinse with! Strain the liquid. Remove the rosemary sprigs. Use. Shampoo as normal. Finish with the rosemary rinse.
      Hope this helped! (:

    • lidiya magar says:

      me also soo confuse wher to get rosemary water……!! :P

    • Kelsey says:

      Well u get rosemary the plant and u add rainwater which that sucks u have to wait till it rains than you put the rosemary and rainwater together on a saucepan but just snuff water tht will cove the rosemary than wait for it to simmer but make sure the water doesn’t evaporate than take the rosemary out and just use the water lol good luck

  13. Emily192 says:

    PLEASE help. When I was younger i had really long hair, about six months ago I had it cut to shoulder length and then I had my hair re-cut in January because of all the dead ends, since then it has only grown 1 inch? Leave in conditioner hasn’t worked and oils are kinda overpriced where I live. If anyone has any recipes or tips and tricks worth trying please contact me, as I don’t fancy putting raw egg in my hair.

  14. Rebekah says:
